As the largest distributor for HydraForce, Quality Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Inc. (QHP) is pleased to see HydraForce turning to advanced automation as a core part of their strategy to reduce production lead times.
HydraForce, a Bosch company, has continually invested in cutting-edge technology to ensure they deliver the highest quality hydraulic products. Recognizing the challenges of complex supply chains, the need for tighter tolerances, and optimizing their skilled workforce, HydraForce has
made significant multi-million-dollar investments in robotics to streamline internal logistics and assembly processes to turn around orders more quickly.
A prime example is their sophisticated automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS). This system manages an inventory of parts across 32,000 unique locations. When a Bill of Materials (BOM) requires specific components, the AS/RS precisely locates and delivers them for assembly, dramatically reducing manual handling time, minimizing component loss, and optimizing labor allocation.
Furthermore, HydraForce employs technologies like Light Guided Assembly (LGA) systems during manifold production. This technology visually guides technicians, ensuring correct component placement and orientation, which significantly boosts assembly accuracy and overall product quality.
Beyond logistics and guided assembly, HydraForce utilizes advanced robotic cells for the manufacturing and testing of individual valves. These highly sophisticated cells operate lights-out,
24/7/365, enabling the production and rigorous testing of millions of valves annually. This automation has effectively cut production times in half for key processes while simultaneously enhancing quality control through consistent, repeatable precision. By automating high-volume or repetitive tasks, HydraForce empowers its talented technicians. These skilled team members can then dedicate their expertise to more complex assemblies, specialized projects, and process improvements that cannot be easily automated, thereby increasing overall plant capacity and leveraging valuable human skills where they matter most.
Check out the video showcasing one of HydraForce's robotic testing cells – the SV47 test cell. It provides a clear look at how these valves are meticulously tested using automation.
